Ioannis Stathas
Scientific Director Sportsmed Concept- Leading rehabilitation
Ioannis Stathas is a sports physiotherapist specializing in sports injuries with specialization in therapeutic exercise and functional rehabilitation. He is involved in the rehabilitation of professional athletes and has served as a physiotherapist in championship-level teams (football, basketball, handball). Until the summer of 2021, he served as a physiotherapist at AEK FC for 6 years (champion and cup winner of Greece). From 2022 to 2025, he was responsible for physiotherapy and rehabilitation at OFI 1925.
He is a graduate of the School of Health and Welfare Sciences of the Athens Technical University in 2009, conducting a research study on the differences in static and dynamic balance between football and basketball athletes. He holds a Master's Degree in "Therapeutic Exercise" from the School of Health Rehabilitation Sciences of the University of Patras. His master's thesis was on functional rehabilitation entitled "Multivariate evaluation of the effect of two functional rehabilitation programs for musculoskeletal injuries in professional football players on their time to return to full competitive activity. A prospective study." He is a member of the Panhellenic Association of Physiotherapists (PAPH) and has undergone further training in sports physiotherapy as an exercise specialist (Sports physiotherapy Level 1, exercise specialist) through the program of the International Federation of Sports Physiotherapists (IFSPT). He has completed further training in several areas regarding physiotherapy intervention.
